From the capital of the island of Tenerife ,we have also committed ourselves during this world crisis. During the state of emergency, as already decreed, all non-essential services will remain closed (restaurants, shopping centres, cafes, etc).In addition, Santa Cruz’s tourist bus and train services, as well as museums and other tourist attractions, will also remain closed. We want to remind all those tourists who have not been able to leave the island, that it is necessary for them to stay confined to their accommodation for the established period of time, and that it is only allowed to go out on the streets to meet their basic needs.

The capital of Tenerife
Tenerife has a heart, the centre from which you can get to know the spirit of the island, the indispensable place so you won’t miss anything. If you like to discover real destinations on your journeys, this is your place; cosmopolitan, historical, cultured, a place for leisure and for shopping. Enjoy it by discovering the genuine heart of Tenerife.
Below you can find some of the beats of our heart
Nuestra Señora de África Market
Popularly known as ‘La Recova’, it is a neo-colonial building with arches, a central courtyard and a tower in the Hispano-Arabic style that was inaugurated in 1944. It offers fresh produce and specialities but it is also a place where you can have a typical Spanish “tapa” with your friends.
Cruise Terminal
Over 8,400 square metres, with ultra-modern components and capacity to deal with cruise ships of up to four thousand passengers, make this the most modern terminal in Macaronesia (the geographical name for the island groups in the Northern Central Atlantic). Its facades offer functionality to the city and to the sea for one of the main ports in Spain.

Playa de
Las Teresitas
The most emblematic beach in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Located near the village of San Andrés, this beach of golden sand stands out as it is full of palm trees. The tranquillity of the waves, thanks to the breakwater which largely excludes them, makes this an ideal option for spending the day en famille and taking a stroll along the shore.
Plaza de La Candelaria and Plaza de España
Surrounded by historical buildings (Palacio de Carta or the Casino, or Club, of Santa Cruz, among others), hotels and restaurants, Plaza de La Candelaria allows you to walk down to Plaza de España (1929), which was refurbished by the Swiss architects, Herzog & De Meuron who, with the lake, gardens and access to the port, have created a feature which will take the visitor down to the sea.

Anaga
The Anaga Rural Park, declared a World Biosphere Reserve, has managed to conserve its natural features to an exceptional extent. The outstanding toughness of the mountains rising from the nearby coast is an image which is as attractive as it is unusual, but if you really want to enjoy it you should walk some of the numerous footpaths and get to one of the enchanting coves with their fine and brilliantly exotic black sand (such as Benijo Beach) which are scattered around this coast.
Carnival
This is an appointment with the unique rhythm, colour and flavour of a festival which comes right from the heart on Tenerife and is exported to the world, which watches in awe of the succession of spectacles which distinguish it as a “Fiesta of International Tourist Interest”. It also holds a Guinness record as it is the setting for the greatest show of dancing in the open air with 200,000 dancers. It is considered to be one of the best Carnivals in the world together with Río de Janeiro and Venice.
The Area of the Swimming-pool Complex (Parque Marítimo)
The Tenerife Adán Martín Auditorium, the work of Santiago Calatrava, is a building which makes a powerful sculptural impact. Located in a landscape setting including the Swimming-pool Complex, the posthumous work of the artist César Manrique created with such natural elements as volcanic rocks, ornamental plants and sea-water swimming-pools and the Tenerife Palmetum, built on an old rubbish dump, which is considered to be the largest collection of palm trees from tropical islands around the world.
Carnival House
It’s an interpretation centre for the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival. It is a space that was designed to showcase the carnival, a place for exhibitions and for visitors to learn about the heritage of this annual event, which has been declared a Fiesta of International Tourist Interest.

TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (Tenerife Space of the Arts)
The most visited museum in the city is a concrete and glass bunker, surprising and audacious, in which Herzog & De Meuron printed its avant-garde style. Its more than 20,000 square metres house exhibition halls that collect the most daring proposals of contemporary art and a large and diaphanous library. There is a guided tours service and a fabulous cafeteria.
Plaza Weyler and Calle Castillo
The most popular and bustling of the city, which owes its name to General Valeriano Weyler, is also one of the most charming squares. It is the starting point of Calle del Castillo, it is surrounded by huge ficus that shade its benches and adorned by a beautiful fountain of carrara marble from the 19th century. Among its gardens and stone walks there is a kiosk where you can take a break and, why not, see how the day goes by.
Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín (Tenerife Adán Martín Auditorium)
Its white and groundbreaking figure, coined by the famous architect Santiago Calatrava, is already an icon of the city which stands out in front of the sea. In this surprising building, symbol of modern Santa Cruz, the best shows of the island come together: concerts of classical music, dance, opera, jazz, pop and rock. To learn something about it, nothing better than make use of its service of guided visits.
Plaza del Príncipe
Located in the heart of Santa Cruz, the most stately square in the city and one of the most emblematic of Tenerife has a bandstand and two allegorical statues to spring and summer that guard its entrance, although perhaps its undeniable charm responds more to being almost roofed by magnificent Indian laurels. Not in vain it was considered in its day one of the most romantic places in Spain.

García Sanabria Park
The genuine lung of Santa Cruz is an authentic garden full of spectacular tropical trees, high palm trees, fountains and wonderful sculptures that become visible along its pleasant garden walks. There are also curiosities, like the unique flower clock that welcomes you when you climb its stairs. A beautiful and refreshing botanical garden that offers guided tours, always upon reservation.
San Francisco Church
This baroque Catholic church is next to the square that bears its name. Visiting it means discovering the ‘lord of tribulations’, a carving made with corn paste much loved by local people, and contemplating its central altarpiece. The surroundings also deserve a glimpse: colonial houses with beautiful balconies, centennial ficus, a quiet square and a cobbled street full of terraces and restaurants.
La Concepción Church
A must for lovers of the Baroque, the main parish of Santa Cruz, which began to be constructed in the 15th century, is an authentic architectural jewel and a true reflection of the Canarian colonial airs. The stonework of its façade, its wood-panelled balconies and its Hispano-Arabic style coffered ceilings coexist perfectly with its neoclassical structure and imposing tower, which dominates the old town.
Mount Teide
You cannot miss this marvel of a National Park, with enjoy landscapes which will seem to come from another planet. You will breathe the fresh air on Spain’s highest peak. You will walk among the volcanic lava and you will feel tiny in comparison with the impressive setting which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007.
